Robert Wilson

The world just got a little less funky.

June 03, 2010
Jeremy Fish

I just got an email from dude. Apparently he's traipsing around Europe on an art tour of sorts. He attached an image with no details, but I think it's self-explanatory: Jeremy Fish Beer.

May 25, 2010
Matt Irving at Atlas

This is happening. Should be a good one.

May 05, 2010
Morning Breath Design

Just shipped this design off to these guys. Check their site--they're always making good stuff. They're in this show coming up real soon.

April 08, 2010
Malcolm McLaren 1946 – 2010

Sorry to hear he passed, but he made a big mark while he was alive. He was a master at pushing people's buttons and pulling the strings. A true cultural giant.

March 29, 2010
Thomas Campbell

Thomas spent a day in the studio last week working on editions for his upcoming show at Gregory Lind Gallery. Definitely stoked on this guy's trip. He has so many things happening: film, music, photography, visual art... the list is endless. It's not often I'm able to work with artists side by side. Wish it happened more often. Love hearing what makes them go. We are a peculiar and opinionated bunch.

March 12, 2010
Broken Bells

This poster was for a secret show in LA. I've heard a few tracks from the album and it sounds good. I'm a Shins fan. Bummed they're done. Eager to give this one a good listen.

March 09, 2010
Tucker Nichols

I'm a little late on this one, but here's a piece Tucker Nichols contributed to Dave Egger's latest issue of McSweeny's. I heard Dave on the radio not long ago and he had some insightful things to say about newspapers and print media in general. He's putting his money where his mouth is, too. Buy one.

March 09, 2010
Haiti Poster Project

No shortage of people in need these days. Michael Wertz and I contributed this poster to the Haiti Poster Project. Two color, transparent ink. If you're interested in getting involved there's still time. Details on the the web site.

January 20, 2010
Sonic Youth

First design of the year. Off to a good start. Want one? Contact this guy.

January 20, 2010
I'd like to thank...

I got an email telling me I won! I smelled scam. My ever supportive wife swelled with pride and told me I just had to claim the trophy. Upon further investigation, I was proven correct. Again. It is a pretty dope trophy though. If you ever "win" an award that requires you to pay money, you really haven't won shit, have you?

January 20, 2010
Happy New Year

Happy belated New Year, people. I'm probably not the only one glad to turn the page on 2009. 2010 sounds so futuristical. Here's to health, prosperity and peace in the new decade.

December 15, 2009
Joe Brook

I printed two editions for Joe Brook. He will be releasing them at the opening of his show at 510 in Berkeley. For those not in the know, that would be the Gonz and Dennis Busenitz.

December 03, 2009
Pen Pencil Stencil

Just handed work over to Mark Giglio for the upcoming Printed Matter group show at Giant Robot. Always good to catch up and see what he's doing. Skulls lend a nice Christmas vibe.

November 30, 2009
Oakland Pride

I was pretty happy to see this little vid. I forgot they even came through my studio. I think it's well put together, but the negative comments are starting already... Some of it may be valid. Oh well.

October 09, 2009
Jeremy Fish

I just handed over this poster to Jeremy for his upcoming show at Laguna Art Museum. Having a show at a museum is a big deal for any artist, but honestly I was more impressed with his new ride.

October 09, 2009
SOEX

Jason designed this poster celebrating Southern Exposure's new facility and 35 years in existence. No small feat for a non-profit arts organization. Mazel tov.

October 06, 2009
Concreto

How did I end up in a show with these guys? Riding Sieben's coattails, that's how. I'll take what I can get. Thanks, Sieben.

September 28, 2009
Bon Iver

People are making a big, big deal about this guy so it's no surprise Jason designed a poster for his (their?) show at the newly renovated Fox Theater. Nice one.

September 28, 2009
Travis Millard

The fine folks at Rowan Morrison have released a new edition by Travis Millard. Interested? Push this button.

September 28, 2009
Mike Giant

Another one from Mike Giant. If you're interested any any of his prints he's having an opening Friday night. More info here.

September 11, 2009
Erik Otto

Just handed over a new edition to Erik Otto. He has a show at the Shooting Gallery tomorrow night.

September 11, 2009
Fever Ray

Here's another design from The Small Stakes for Fever Ray, not to be confused with Sugar Ray. My God, that video is painful. Bet you can't watch the whole thing.

September 11, 2009
Monks Of Doom

I'm not hip to their music, but how can you not like a band with a name like Monks Of Doom? Sounds radical. If they sound as good as this poster looks I'm down. Michael Wertz is the designer/illustrator.

August 27, 2009
Mike Giant

Just handed over some work to Mike Giant. He's releasing lots of new editions so there's more to come. He's giving me paper stained with espresso. Here's a detail shot. They smell as good as they look.

August 20, 2009
Stussy's Joint

This is my favorite design blog at the moment. Many of you probably know Shawn Stussy's handwriting if you aren't familiar with the clothes he designed in the 80's and 90's. I love the site because it's pithy, straight forward and really reflects the idea that design pervades everything.

August 20, 2009
Nothing Wrong

Sieben just sent me this little gem. He has a show this weekend at Subliminal Projects. Should be a good one.

August 19, 2009
Perfect

I found this logo in a book the other day. There's nothing I don't like about it.

August 11, 2009
Polaroid

I really love how Polaroid records red. Punchy, saturated and vibrant. I'm holding out hope it won't go away forever.

August 11, 2009
Nat Russell

I recently got to work with Nat Russell again. We did two editions for his show at Hatch Gallery. Really fun guy to work with who always seems to have his hands in several interesting projects. He did some animation for this flick. I haven't seen it yet but I bet it's solid.

August 11, 2009
Sonic Youth

Jason designed this beauty. I love printing CMYK. When the cyan goes down it explodes with color. It's a process unique to print media. I still like the turntable motif, too. Can you believe Sonic Youth has been together for, like, 53 years or something? Incredible.

July 01, 2009
Death Cab For Cutie

Jason just designed two posters for Death Cab. One version was cut down into tickets for some special secret show or something. I wasn't told anything about it so I can maintain plausible deniability. They look really sharp. Different grounds, same line art over both. Smart.

June 25, 2009
Farrah Fawcett

When the stars from one's childhood pass it makes a guy feel a little bit older. My sister and I spent many hours plopped in front of the TV watching "Charlie's Angels." I was a fan--the hair, the irrepressible smile... get it!

June 24, 2009
K-40

Another great product falls victim to faster, cheaper and more crappy. Now that there's only one lab in the whole wide world that will process the stuff, maybe it's time I shot this.

June 02, 2009
Sound Familiar?

If you're a graphic designer, these scenarios are probably all too familiar.

June 02, 2009
Flight of the Conchords

I really like this show so it was with great pleasure I was able to print this. Design by the Small Stakes.

June 02, 2009
The Sieben

Here's a good interview with a good guy, Mr. Michael Sieben. Although, I have to say I'm a little ambivalent about ESPN reporting on skateboarding. I'll just leave it at that. Note the armadillo on its back drinking a Lone Star.

June 02, 2009
For The People

Here's an interesting article about screen printing in relation to both commercial applications and social movements.

May 01, 2009
Black Moth Super Star

Jason keeps doing it.

May 01, 2009
Kelsey Brookes

After much anticipation on his part, I just shipped two editions to Kelsey Brookes. The diptych is comprised of Sink or Swim. Each piece is nine colors and measures 20" X 20". He said they look good so I can exhale now. Keep an eye on his site--they'll be up for sale soon.

April 29, 2009
Christopher Bettig

I just completed another edition for Christopher Bettig, an artist and designer living in Los Angeles. I'm digging the positive vibe. The world needs all the positive vibes it can get these days. Single color, edition of 50.

April 29, 2009
Meet Your Maker

I recently found this site. If you're interested in printmaking, graphic design or fine art made by human hands it's worth checking out.

April 17, 2009
American Psycho

Is your business card crap? Of course it is--you aren't this guy.

March 03, 2009
Evan Hecox

The last few weeks I've been producing posters to promote Thomas Campbell's new film The Present. Thomas is using several different artists to create designs, including this one from Evan Hecox. I've been a fan of his work for a long time. Good stuff.

February 13, 2009
Michael Bartalos

Holy smokes! I just got a letter in the mail with a Michael Bartalos stamp affixed to it. How did he do that? Years ago I printed a book project for him. He's a phenomenal artist. I happen to be on a Latin jazz trip right now, too. Cal Tjader is so good, even if he isn't Latin exactly. Watch the whole clip. If you're not feeling Pancho Sanchez beating the congas you're dead inside.

February 13, 2009
Steven Harrington

I just noticed Steven Harrington is starting to release work I printed for him last year. The prints in this series are stunning, some of my favorite work from '08. Keep your eyes peeled, there's more to come. Wait until he releases the peacock. It'll knock your socks off. By the way, I love saying "peacock." It's a good substitute for the F-word. Try it next time. Looks like he's doing some stuff with Arkitip this year, too.

February 12, 2009
Morning Breath Design

I recently completed this design for Morning Breath. Ideal for any child's room. I'll have signed prints for sale soon.

February 11, 2009
More-hol

Here's another Warhol article I found recently. I knew he designed a few album covers, but I didn't realize he did so many more. Love him or hate him, the guy never stopped working.

February 10, 2009
Warhol

If you live in Northern California and you like screen prints, this looks like a show worth seeing. If you don't like screen prints or Warhol we probably don't have much to talk about. Don't call me.

January 12, 2009
View Master

It's still January and I already have one art show under my belt. Way to go, me. Thanks, Roy, for hosting. It was a blast. Reminded me of the good old days before the Art Murmur, before 23rd and Telegraph was the "art corridor." It's debatable if the block has improved but at least now they serve hot dogs on First Friday. That's change I can get behind.

November 20, 2008
Jeff Canham

Another design from Jeff Canham for an upcoming show at Mollusk. Simplicity and over-printing always works. Printed on recycled stock.

November 20, 2008
Wood Type

Just scored some beautiful wood type. Totally not digital. So good.

November 11, 2008
Forever and Never

Michael just added these prints to his store. This work is the latest from an ongoing collaborative project of ours. Each print is unique, sold in suites of three.

October 31, 2008
Geoff Mcfetridge

I'm currently working on multiple editions for an upcoming show at Mollusk. They put together a great lineup of artists, including Geoff Mcfetridge. White Dude's Burden. Brilliant.

October 28, 2008
Paul + Wendy Projects

Here's a link to a project I printed for Tucker Nichols. There's some great work on this site. This is my favorite.

September 15, 2008
Beck

Can I what? Print posters for Beck and Dan the Automator? Yes, I'd be happy to do that. Design by The Small Stakes.

September 10, 2008
Jeff Canham

Recently printed these for Jeff Canham. Beautiful.

July 16, 2008
Insound 20

I'm currently working with Jason Munn to produce twenty posters for a design project called the Insound 20. He teamed up with Insound to design, you guessed it, twenty posters for a long list of bands. More info here.

May 20, 2008
FFDG Show

Thanks to everyone who came out to the show I did with Sieben at the FFDG. It exceeded my expectations once again. Big thanks to John and Jessica for all the effort they put into it and especially to Juice Design. I'm lucky to get involved with such solid people. There are a lot of shots of the show online, but I think this is my favorite. This is Skylar skating the deck Al Cheves made. I printed Sieben graphics on it and set it up with soft wheels and loose trucks. Hanging skateboards on the wall is weak--skate that shit!

April 11, 2008
Print Sale

Thanks to everyone who came out last Friday. The sale exceeded my expectations. It was crazy. If there's a next time I'm going to try to impose a little order. It was fun, though. Thanks, people.

April 01, 2008
Print Sale

I'm having a print sale this Friday, April 4th from 5 to 10:00. Jason Munn from the Small Stakes will be here, too. Lots of work, good prices, right here at 2310 Telegraph Avenue. No, this isn't an April Fool's joke. I'm serious. I'm always serious.

March 25, 2008
Explosions In The Sky

Another solid design fromThe Small Stakes. The type and composition reminds me a bit of Reid Miles work for Blue Note.

March 24, 2008
Chronicle Books

Nice little write up on Chronicle's blog. The fellowships they offer are a great opportunity for aspiring designers. Check it.

March 24, 2008
Tampa Pro

Did these for the Tampa Pro contest in... Tampa. That's why they call it the "Tampa" Pro. Jeremy Fish illustration and design.

February 28, 2008
Julie West

Another great print from Julie West. Such impeccable line work. Great color palette, too.

February 27, 2008
Nathan Fox

I did these quite a while ago but never posted a pic. This is a 3-D diptych and looks as good as the jpeg suggests. More of Nathan's work here.

February 27, 2008
Steven Harrington

I recently shipped the last of the work I printed for Steven Harrington. Here's one of the pieces. He's gearing up for a big show that will travel through Europe and will include a book release. I'll post more information when I get it.

February 27, 2008
Happy New Year

I know, I know, it's well past the new year. But here we go... Isn't this poster great? I bet you can still purchase one if you want. If you want a peek into Jason's process, I found this interview with him online. Prints from the collaboration I did with Michael Sieben are still available on his site. This is one of the ten we produced for a show in Portland. That's it for now.

September 11, 2007

May 25, 2007
Sam Flores

We produced these (one & two) for Sam's show at The Lab 101. Each print measures 16 X 20. More for the Lab soon. The StAAAmmering show should be a doozy.

February 27, 2007
Noise Pop

We had the pleasure of printing this design by The Small Stakes. Noise Pop is happening, like, right now.

February 26, 2007
Steven Harrington

Just completed this design for Steven Harrington. We expect to be doing more with him in the near future. He's one of my favorite artists making work at the moment. Check out his site and see for yourself.

January 08, 2007
New Print For Sale

We have a new print for sale from Portland, Oregon based artist Ryan Jacob Smith. Sure, a woman is second in line for the presidency and the Republicans lost big in November, but don't kid yourself--we're still totally fucked. Signed and numbered, edition of eighty. Click on prints for sale if you're interested. Buy one a get one of these for free while they last. He's having a show at Super7 Store in SF February 1st. Should be good.

January 04, 2007
